PORTABLE DEVICE BASED ON BIOSENSORS TO MAP THE RISK OF GRAPE INFECTION BY BOTRYTIS CINEREA IN THE VINEYARD
Early, fast and accurate detection of the Botrytis cinerea fungus is necessary for efficient management of grape and wine production.
ENKOA collaborates with the Tecnalia technology center and works together with the Basque companies Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal and The Whiteam Consulting and the Romanian partners Epi Sistem, International Center of Biodynamics and Research and Development Institute for Viticulture and Enology Valea Calugareasca in the development of a detection, mapping and decision device capable of offering a quantitative and precise evaluation of Botrytis infection in a matter of several minutes. the laccase activity in the grape, must and wine directly in the vineyard and winery, also helping the winegrower in making decisions; for example, in the application of fungicides, in the classification of grapes and in the application of treatments to wine.
The instrument is based on a low-cost, dedicated (bio) sensor system. It can be used on-site in the vineyard or in the winery for grape and must selection throughout the winemaking process. The results are communicated through a web application to process data and alert the user. These will contribute to improving the competitiveness of companies; increasing its productivity, reducing the loss of raw material (grapes infected by Botrytis), making quality wine, as well as reducing the environmental impact by significantly reducing the use of fungicides in the vineyard.
At Enkoa, within our iSENSOR line, we develop intelligent sensors of diverse technology and aimed at all types of sectors.
